When my mentor encouraged me to start speaking in 1992 I couldn't imagine anything more difficult and frightening. Then one day he invited me to attend a Kawanii's meeting and when I got there he told me that I was the guest speaker. Rather than embarrass him, I got up and talked for 20 minutes, but for the life of me, I've never been able to remember what I said.
     Every month he would take me to another service organization where he had arranged that I would be the speaker. About a year after these monthly speaking engagements, a young woman approached me prior to my program and told me that she had heard me speak six months prior and after hearing that I was to speak on that day, wanted to attend to thank me. She told me that if she hadn't heard my message previously, she would have had to close her business and get a job to survive. Since she had three young children, that would have been an extreme hardship.
     It was at that moment that I realized that no matter what experiences you've had in your business or your life, there is an amazing amount of value to others who do not have your experience.
     I sought speaker's groups to find resources that would help me develop my speaking skills, but they were not designed to help me get out into the business community, which is what I needed to do to promote my travel agency during the Gulf War during the early 90's.
     After many years of frustrating meetings, courses and interviews with accomplished speakers, I created the course SpeakEasyTM which is specifically designed to take people from the fear of speaking to developing a level of confidence and enjoyment of the art.
